HEADACHE

Approximately 1 in 20 people suffer from some type of a headache. Headaches can have a profound impact on our personal life, social life, and our work performance. There are many different types of headaches but Migraine and Tension headaches are two of the most common types. Tension headache is often described as a pressure sensation around the head. It is often provoked by stress, anxiety, or depression. Migraine headache is described as pounding located often on one side of the head. It can be associated with nausea and light or sound sensitivity. A mixed headache type or “overlap” is also very common.

It is always recommended to consult a physician for a proper diagnosis of a headache. Before starting any treatment one should first consider getting enough sleep, smoking cessation, relaxation/exercise, massage, or some simple pain medications like Tylenol or Motrin. Botox is now FDA approved for migraine and chronic tension headache treatment. Patients who should be considered for Botox therapy include those who demonstrate lack of improvement from preventive therapy or those who could not tolerate daily medications. It is shown that Botox injections may provide either complete elimination or significant relief of a headache for up to six months. The procedure takes 10-15 minutes and includes a several simple injections targeting the “trigger points” on the head and the neck. Even the clients receiving the Botox injections for cosmetic reasons often notice improvement of their headache symptoms. Call Vita to arrange your complimentary consultation.
