CELLULITE

Cellulite (also known as “mattress” or “orange peel” phenomenon) is often described as a condition where the skin looks uneven or dimpled. Any part of the body can be affected by cellulite but the most often affected areas are thighs, abdomen and buttocks. The condition is much more common in females than males due to differences in the skin structure and hormones. Practically all females display some degree of cellulite after puberty.

Fat cells are collected in compartments surrounded by connective tissue fibers under the outer layer of the skin. As a result of slower circulation, poor cell permeability, build up of cellular waste and obesity, these fat compartments get trapped and swell up, giving the “cottage cheese” appearance. Some of the contributing factors for cellulite are: heredity, age, skin type, hormonal imbalance, insufficient water intake, diet (alcohol, excess sugar, insufficient fiber intake, etc.), smoking, lack of exercise, and sedentary lifestyle. Cellulite is not really a disease but rather a body image problem. Healthy life style, a balanced diet, and smoking cessation should be the first line of the treatment intervention. Even though there is no permanent cure for cellulite, there are several options for cellulite improvement available: Massage, Cavi-Lipo , Exilis Ultra, Cellutone, INTRAcel, and Thread Lift . A combination of two or more treatment regiments can provide better and longer lasting results. At VITA, we will guide you in choosing the appropriate cellulite treatment.
