AGING FACE
With age our face gradually changes. Skin cells divide more slowly and the inner layer begins to thin. Collagen production gradually slows down, resulting in decreasing of the skin firmness. Aging skin is less able to retain moisture and produces less sebum. All these changes make the skin dryer, thinner, less elastic and cause it to wrinkle and sag. The number, size, and color of pigmented spots increase as well as the amount of visible blood vessels (or spider veins). Due to decreased muscle tone aging face gets droopy appearance, forming double chin, saggy jowls, and “marionette” lines. The fat pads of the eye sockets decrease, making eyes look sunken. The skin around the eyes becomes thinner, wrinkly, and darker, forming dark circles and bags. The amount of facial hair increases, especially on the chin and the lips. Unprotected sun exposure, hormonal changes, smoking, pollution and lack of sleep are the most important risk factors leasing to premature aging.
Although it is impossible to reverse aging completely, there are many ways to prevent premature aging and to improve the appearance of aging face. It is crucial to maintain a healthy life style, quit smoking, and wear a sunblock with SPF# 30 or more to prevent premature aging. For a long time face lift surgery was the only option to treat aging face. Current aesthetic market offers many new choices for non-surgical, noninvasive corrections:
- Medical/topical treatments: Vitamin A (Tretinoin, Retin-A), alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic and lactic acid), antioxidants (vitamins A, C, and E) and moisturizers.
- Cosmetic procedures: medical facials, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion . These procedures help to remove the superficial old cells, nourish and rejuvenate the skin.
- Laser skin resurfacing (Pixel laser), IPL (intense pulsed light), LED (light emitted diode) will help to rejuvenate skin, stimulate the body's natural collagen production, decrease spotting, and removes superficial old layers of the skin cells.
- Botox® - paralyzes the muscles, reducing wrinkle appearance.
- Pelleve skin tightening.
This new and advanced radiofrequency technology helps to remodel the collagen and to promote new collagen formation.
- Dermal fillers: (Restylane® ,
Perlane® ,
Juvederm™ , and
Radiesse® ). These are injected into the skin to increase volume and flatten wrinkles and folds.
- Laser hair removal.
